15-year-old Mavis Agbo, a native of Takla-Tokor in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region, is in dire need of financial support to treat scoliosis, a spinal condition.
The condition, which started developing when she was in Primary 6, is getting more severe, hence affecting her studies and preparation for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
After medical assessment at the Ho Teaching Hospital and FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital in Accra, she was diagnosed with scoliosis – a spinal condition, for which she needs an amount of GHȼ413,869.00 to undergo treatment.
Additionally, Mavis family has to raise about GHȼ70,000 for medication and other auxiliary costs after the treatment.
Her teacher, Edem Wisdom Nkornoo, who is spearheading a fundraising campaign for her, has raised GHȼ5,000, while her parents, who are peasant farmers were only able to provide GHȼ500.
He, therefore, appealed to individuals and corporate organisations to come to Mavis’ aid and help with the GHȼ483,869.00 needed for her treatment, medication, and other auxiliary costs.
A medical brief from FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital said payments should be deposited in the account below:
