Government has been asked to develop an integrated development plan aimed at bridging infrastructural inequities in the country.
Governance Expert, Dr. Emmanuel Akwettey believes such a plan is a sure way to address expectations and concerns about what the oil revenue should be used for now that production has started.
Dr. Akwettey says even though parliament is still working on the legal framework a plan is necessary to bridge development gaps nationwide.
He said it was also important to, while looking at the legal, also look at the institutional framework of managing oil revenues.
Dr Akwetey believes by now it ought to have been clear what the oil revenues will be used for.
He however added that government will still have to address the needs of indigenes of the Western region who are hoping to see some major transformation in their lives as a result of oil production.
He said the people of the Western Region were making a strong case because the region appears to have been unfairly treated even though a chunk of Ghana's natural resources come from there.
