St. Hubert’s Seminary Senior High School has staged a remarkable comeback to secure the fifth qualification slot from the Ashanti Regional Qualifiers to the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) national championship.

The Santasi-based school found itself trailing Afua Kobi Ampem Girls’ Senior High School in the opening stages of the contest, but a strong response in the subsequent rounds saw St. Hubert’s regain control and pull away from its opponents.

St. Hubert’s maintained its momentum to finish the contest with 56 points, securing its place at the national championship. Afua Kobi Ampem Girls’ SHS placed second with 50 points, while Toase SHS ended the competition with 33 points.

The victory marked a dramatic turnaround for St. Hubert’s, which refused to be unsettled by its slow start and gradually built enough momentum to secure the crucial win.

With qualification secured, St. Hubert’s now joins the growing list of Ashanti Region representatives preparing for the national championship.

For Toase SHS, the NSMQ journey continues as the school joins Ejisu Senior High Technical School in the third qualification contest.

The two schools will compete for another opportunity to secure a place at the 2026 NSMQ national championship, as the Ashanti Regional Qualifiers continue to produce intense battles for the remaining slots.

The competition continues with more schools hoping to book their places at Ghana’s premier science and mathematics contest.
