Russia-based striker Baffour Gyan is confident of returning from his injury-induced absence next year to help the Black Stars qualify for the 2010 World Cup.
Gyan has been out of action since June because of a knee injury and he will not return until next year as he recovers from surgery.
He has not played for the Black Stars since coach Milovan Rajevac took over from Frenchman Claude Leroy but he is confident of returning to the fold.
The 28-year-old, who plays for Saturn Ramenskoye, is keen on returning to the national team when he recovers.
"It is every footballer's dream to play for his country and I am no different from all the players," Gyan told Ghanasoccernet.
"I have been unlucky with this injury because it has taken too long to heal but for sure next year I should return to action.
"That should make me ready to play for the Black Stars in the second phase of the World Cup qualifiers and I am ready to help my country qualify."
Ghana has been drawn in Group D of the second phase of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers where they face Mali, Benin and Sudan.
