The opening day of the Glo Premier league second round churned out mixed but interesting results at the various league centres.
A Samuel Affum 12th minute strike over Heart of Lions proved crucial as Hearts of Oak extended their lead at the summit of the league table to 11 points.
The crucial away victory marks the continuation of the impressive run by the Phobians who have sworn to lift the trophy this season.
But the story was different for rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko who were humbled by Swedru All Blacks in a crucial 2-1 back-to-back victory.
It was a game of penalty kicks as the Swedru lads sunk Kotoko in the first half courtesy two perfectly connected penalty kicks by Daniel Gyamfi.
The porcupine Warriors had a consolation in the 89th minute when striker Alex Asamoah also connected another penalty kick.
The defeat is a blot not only on Kotoko’s title defence but the operation 45 points declared by Kotoko prior to the league’s resumption.
For All Blacks, it was sweet victory, having beaten the porcupine warriors by two goals to nil in the final game of the first round at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Else where, RTU held second place King Faisal in a pulsating goalless drawn game played in Kumasi. It was a crucial point for the Tamale side and for Coach Abdul Razak who returned to his side after resigning early on.
Faisal by this result failed to mount pressure on leaders Hearts of Oak.
At the Obuasi Lenclay Stadium, Ashantigold were held by Wa All stars to another goalless drawn game. Lying third from bottom, the results could prove disastrous for Ashgold and for returnee Coach David Duncan.
Sekondi Hasaacas earned vital 2-1 victory at home to Bechem Chelsea. In Berekum, Arsenal kept their home invincibility intact with another goalless drawn game with Sekondi Eleven Wise.
Debutant Kessben FC posted an impressive 3-1 win over Tema Youth.
There is late kick-off between Liberty Professionals and Sporting Mirren.
