Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports Osei Bonsu Amoah has stated that he will resign his position as a Deputy Minister of State if claims that he has collected monies from certain individuals to secure visas for them can be substantiated.
"I state categorically that I have never ever collected money from any person to secure a visa for any trip including the 2006 World Cup in Germany and hereby challenge any person with such claims to provide evidence to expose me," he said in press release.
Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah was responding to allegations published in an Accra daily to the effect that, he has used his position as deputy minister to do business contrary to what has been assigned him.
That statement was made by president of the Supporters Union of Ghana (SUGHA), Sarfo Abebrese after the deputy minister called on leaders of supporters Unions to desist from using the unions for business.
The release to Times by Mr Abebrese in the Accra daily 'the Chronicle are false and defamatory and challenged him to come out with documents to prove it.
Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah also requested the SUGHA leader to proceed to the General Legal Council as a member of the Ghana Bar Association for his conduct to be scrutinized and the appropriate sanctions applied.
The deputy minister assured the public that such reckless defamatory statements will not deter him from exposing persons who have turned the recreation of cheering Ghana's national teams into indecent business.
He called on all persons who have submitted petitions and receipt for redress and have fallen victim to the fraudulent acts of supporter unions to come forward and tell their stories without fear or intimidation.
