Bankroller of Ghana Premier League side Nations FC, Dr. Kwame Kyei says he would prefer to lose the title than win it, at the cost of human lives.
Acts of hooliganism took centre stage in week 33 of Ghana's top-flight competition as Chairman Kyei was allegedly assaulted, along with club president Mr. Divine Kyei Boadu, at the Ampain AAK II Arena by supporters of Basake Holy Stars.
The match ended abruptly as the league leaders walked off the pitch in "difficult" but 'necessary circumstance, citing security lapses and unfair officiating.
"I was not happy with what happened," Kyei said in an interview with Asempa FM.
"I have followed football for long but yesterday's incident was not good. To win the league at the cost of losing lives, then I prefer to lose it."
The Ghana FA is yet to react to the incident.
A victory for Nations FC would have secured their first-ever Premier League title.
