Policy think-tank IMANI Ghana is demanding more transparency from the Ghana Gas company especially about its timelines for the production of gas from the Jubilee Field. The project estimated at 850 million dollars was stalled as a result of delay in the approval of the three billion dollar Chinese loan by Parliament.Chief Executive, Dr. George Sipa Yankey is however confident construction of the processing facility will commence this month with gas production for both household and industrial use to start in December this year following a pre-financing deal reached with the contractor, Sinopec International. But IMANI Ghana says the promise by the CEO is not feasible considering the quantum of work yet to be done before December.Head of Research at IMANI Ghana Bright Simmons noted: “The first gas is unlikely to be seen December this year. That is very unlikely. There are still shadows surrounding the finances of the gas at this stage.”
