The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Monday, September 22, will be observed as a statutory public holiday across the country.
According to the Ministry, this is in commemoration of the Founder’s Day.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry said the holiday, originally scheduled for Sunday, September 21, coincides with a weekend.
On the back of this, President John Mahama has, by Executive Instrument, declared the following Monday as an additional holiday in line with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), as amended.
Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, who signed the statement, urged the public to observe the day nationwide.
