KiDi has released a new song titled ‘Danger’. But that’s not all – the 2022 VGMA Album of the Year winner has hinted at a new project, scheduled to be released later this year.
Whiles previewing his new single at a press soiree on Wednesday, February 28, Kidi made the surprise announcement, sparking excitement amongst his fans and well-wishers. According to him, “this year is an album year, and so there’ll be unlimited music in the lead-up to its drop.”
“People who have followed and enjoyed my music for the longest time know how much effort I put into my albums, and so trust me when I say it’s going to be power-packed,” he added.
The album is 80% complete and is expected to “drop around my birthday, so let’s think August, September”.
The Liquor hitmaker’s last album, The Golden Boy, arrived in June 2021 and earned him ‘Album of the Year’ at the 2022 VGMAs.
The new song, on the other hand, is a melodic offering of Afrobeats, focused primarily on groove, typical of an artiste who has placed himself as one of the country’s most promising musical exports.
As the name suggests, this song is supposed to “evoke a daring feeling out of its listeners”. “The concept of Danger is simple – be dangerous,” Kidi stated. “I’m basically asking my fans to be go-getters, and not give in to pressure.”
He says the song was written by multiple songwriters and has undergone refinement between different producers, underscoring the dedication his team has to offer quality music.
