Former International Boxing Federation (IBF) Junior Middleweight champion, Kofi Jantuah, has said it is not true that he had quit the sport as is being speculated.
He said “At 34, I am still strong and kicking and hope my best is yet to come”, he told GNA Sports in Kumasi on Monday.
Jantuah’s boxing records stands at 32 wins, three losses with 21 technical knockouts and has a total of 36 fights to his credit.
The former champion called on his supporters to treat the speculation with the contempt it deserves since he noted it was a calculated attempt by his detractors to bring his career to a pre-mature end.
Jantuah said he has plans of becoming a world champion again especially in the Middleweight division, and as such he has stepped up his training regimen to achieve his aim.
“I call on my supporters to rally solidly behind me physically and spiritually as I launch a bid to reclaim my former status”, he told the GNA Sports.
Jantuah took the opportunity to appeal to stakeholders and the corporate world to invest massively in the promotion of boxing to enable the nation produce more champions to salvage the dwindling fortunes of the sport.Source: GNA
