The Konkomba Youth Association (KOYA) has lambasted the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, for failing to reward the Konkomba tribe with any ministerial position.
According to them, as the second largest tribe in the country which contributed in getting the NDC into power, they expect that they are offered some ministerial positions.
Addressing the annual congress of Kokonba Youth Association (KOYA) in Saboba in the Northern Region, President of KOYA, Roland Kofi Mbui said they feel stabbed in the back by the failure of President John Mahama to reward them with a ministerial appointment.
“With our population size in the North and Volta as the second largest ethnic group as well as fair distribution of our people in the Eastern and Bono Ahafo Regions, the party has failed to recognize us with ministerial positions”.
He praised the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for being "sympathetic" with them while in government and “even in opposition”.
“We have however noted that the NPP is sympathetic with us during their tenure of office and even in opposition…To this end, we were given a cabinet ministerial position at the Ministry of Local Government and three deputy ministerial positions. In opposition, NPP has given deputy Minority Leader position to our brother (Dominic Nitiwul).
“The question is, should we rise up and vanderlise NDC party billboards and properties as others have done before we are recognized? We as the mouthpiece of the people have chosen not to go that way but will show President Mahama and the NDC that we are a force to winning and losing elections in our areas,” Mr. Kofi Mbui stated.
