The Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in a great start into the year 2021, has recorded 18 New Year deliveries on January 1.

JoyNews’ Maame Esi Thompson paid a visit to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to find out how the hospital fared during the festive season.

The principal nurse, Rose Anima Kortey, a mid-wife with 20 years’ experience in nursing indicated that deliveries on January 1, brought joy to all mothers and colleagues in the hospital.

“When we see the head of the baby and when the baby finally cries, we all start shouting and jubilating.”

Cecilia Okafor, a mother of twins; Adichie Nobe and Chimamanda stated that she was excited to welcome two newborn babies into the world.

“I never expected or dreamt to have twins in my life but they came and I see this as double blessing for the year 2021. I am so grateful to God for ushering me into a new year with double blessings.”

According to her, the names Adichie Nobe (near to God’s heart) and Chimamanda (God is faithful) provide solace after a challenging 2020.

“I pray these babies turn around all in my life; my marriage and my family,” she added.

Mother of three; Zachinah, who had an early delivery also welcomed two newborn girls on January 1.
