Ex-Chief of Staff, Kwadwo Mpiani has claimed he is aware of plans by “diabolical minds” within the ruling NDC to unduly put him before court, but said he is ready to meet “anybody on anything, anywhere.”
Even though he concedes there are “nice guys” within the transition team, he said some of them have been plotting to put him before court.
The tough-talking Mpiani has been the object of public criticisms over allegations of financial impropriety in the handling of the Ghana@50 celebrations and the construction of the Golden Jubilee House to serve as the seat of government.
The Lens newspaper Thursday alleged Mr. Mpiani was visiting and pleading with members of the transition team to be lenient with him and ward off any court proceedings that may arise over the team's scrutiny of the accounts over the celebrations.
Describing the publication as a fabricated piece of yellow journalism, best suited for the garbage, Mr. Mpiani told Citi News he is ready to clear his name if any doubts over the affairs of the Ghana@50 celebrations are raised.
“I served my country in the best of my ability and with a clear conscience and has no apology for doing so,” Mr. Mpiani maintained.
He said as far as the laws of the country are still in operation, he has no fears at all whatever charges may be preferred against him.
Mr. Mpiani also dismissed claims that the Golden Jubilee House needs $12 million for completion, saying, the main building was completed as at when the NPP government was leaving office, and what was left would not require the figure being quoted.
He admitted there were bills yet to be paid for some work done, but could not readily tell the total sum.
Listen to excerpts of the interview with Mr. Mpiani in the attached audio.
