M-KOPA Ghana has launched its latest smartphone lineup, the M-KOPA X Series, in a move to expand digital and financial inclusion among Ghanaians.
The new devices, the X20 and X2, were unveiled at an event in Accra on January 30, 2025, as part of the company’s mission to provide affordable, innovative mobile solutions.
Speaking at the launch, General Manager for M-KOPA Ghana Chioma Agogo highlighted the company’s journey and commitment to empowering everyday earners.

“M-KOPA is a device financing organization. We started our business in 2011 and launched in Ghana in October 2021. What we do is provide mobile phone devices with daily installments, allowing the everyday earner access to a smartphone, the digital economy, and financial inclusion,” she explained.

The X Series, developed in partnership with HMD, sets itself apart from other phones on the market by offering more than just a mobile device.
“What differentiates the X Series is that it comes as more than a phone. Consumers are not just getting a smartphone—they are getting a device embedded with medical health insurance, life insurance, and access to free data of up to 12GB over 12 months. Additionally, if a customer breaks their screen during the loan tenure, M-KOPA offers one replacement at a subsidized rate,” she added.

M-KOPA, known for its flexible financing model, aims to bridge the gap for individuals who cannot afford to pay for smartphones upfront. “Most of our customers are daily earners, many below the age of 35. By putting a smartphone in their hands, we ensure they are financially and digitally included, allowing them to express themselves and increase their income through mobile technology,” the General Manager noted.
Chief Commercial Officer at Turaco was also impressed by the level of collaboration with M-KOPA over the years and pledged to continue same in good spirit.

With a strong focus on innovation and impact, M-KOPA Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to continuously developing solutions that enhance the lives of its customers.

The company plans to roll out more services to add value and improve accessibility to smartphones across the country.
The launch of the M-KOPA X Series reinforces the company's role as a key player in Ghana’s mobile financing sector, ensuring that more Ghanaians have access to essential digital tools for communication, business, and financial growth.
