The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has called on electorates in the Volta Region to throw their support behind the party's flagbearer, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Mr Ahiagbah points to Dr. Bawumia's commitment to the region's development, emphasising plans such as establishing a free zone in the border town of Aflao within the Ketu South Constituency.
Mr Ahiagbah asserted that creating a Free Zone enclave in the Volta Region would represent a significant turning point, offering substantial economic growth and prosperity opportunities.
Volta must support Bawumia and reject Mahama. Bawumia's leadership will boost economic activity, create more jobs, and increase regional export production.

Through his page on X, Mr Ahiagbah conveyed the message ahead of Dr. Bawumia's scheduled tour of the Volta Region on Thursday, May 30.
In his message, Ahiagbah urged the people of the Volta Region to extend a warm reception to the Vice President during his visit and to lend their support by casting their votes in his favour during the forthcoming polls.
He underlined the importance of the region's backing for Dr. Bawumia's candidacy, emphasising the potential benefits that his proposed development initiatives could bring to the area.
"Volta must support Bawumia and reject Mahama. Bawumia's leadership will boost economic activity, create more jobs, and increase regional export production. Bawumia plans to establish Special Economic Zones or free zones in border towns, including Aflao in the Ketu South Constituency."
"A Free Zone enclave in the Volta Region is a game-changer, but NDC-Mahama has no such plans for the Volta Region."
"What is former President Mahama's vision or plan for the Volta Region? The development of the Volta Region will inform our votes in 2024 and not sentiment," he posted.
