Kofi Nti Shed, a cocoa growing community near Wamfie in the Dormaa East District, last Sunday turned into a state of mourning and confusion when it was discovered that a resident of the village, Kwame Sylvester, 21, had taken his life by hanging. Sylvester, who left the town to attend a funeral at a nearby village, was found hanging on a tree in an oil-palm plantation near the village where he attended the funeral. The cause of his demise has since become a mystery to his family and the entire Kofi Nti Shed community. Meanwhile, the decomposed body has been interred following an autopsy at the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital, while police investigations continued. Inspector Charles Agovi of the Wamfie police told the Ghana News Agency at Wamfie that, the deceased “had no mental records nor left behind any document to explain why he took the action”. He said when the deceased left home on that Saturday “his family knew he would return and this explained why the search party was put up to trace him the following day”. Inspector Agovi said the bereaved family and residents in the village where the deceased attended the funeral were assisting the police investigations.Source: GNA
