The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampam, Sam Nartey George says Martin Amidu had no business sharing his Corruption Risk Assessment report with President Akufo-Addo before making it public.
According to Sam George, Section 4.1 of the Special Prosecutor's Act states that "the Special Prosecutor is not in any way obligated to be under the direction of any individual or authority."
"If the President was truly interested in the fight against corruption, he would allow the Institutions of State to do their job," he said.
The Parliamentarian then stated that it was because Mr. Amidu felt obliged to report to the President that Akufo-Addo overtly made an attempt to influence him.
According to him, Martin Amidu waited for Akufo-Addo for a week, to show him his Corruption Risk Assessment report because the President was on a tour in the Volta Region.
Sam George stressed that Martin Amidu's actions and inactions affected the country's fight against corruption.
"The President told him to hold on further action for a week, all that while holding his horses out of courtesy for the President. When the President returned he asked for another week.
"Amidu waited until Sunday, and when the President met with Martin, he asked him to accept the comments by the Finance Minister." Sam George said.
The Member of Parliament said Martin Amidu dodged a bullet and made the right choice by resigning from office.
