Relatives of some victims of last year’s Melcom disaster, are unhappy with the delay in payment of compensation packages promised them by the company.
Fourteen people died and scores more were injured in the November disaster. Some families who spoke to JOY NEWS said the task of taking care of the children some of the victims, is overwhelming.
A sister of one of the victims said "My sister left behind a daughter. I have three kids already making four and nowadays the system is not good enough".
She said she needs money to further the kid's education.
But the company says it has already given monies to the Labour Commission to be distributed to the victims’ families.
Chief Operating Officer of Melcom, Avinder Singh asked family members who have not been contacted yet by the Commission to report to his office.
