Multichoice Ghana say it's committed to churning out quality educational and entertainment content for children in the country.
The company believes using visuals play an important role in teaching as well as learning, hence its decision.
Corporate Affairs Manager, Nii Amarh Dagadu disclosed this to Joy Business after donating a GOtv decoder to SOS Children’s Village in Tema. The company also donated GOtv decoder to 19 other institutions.
“Our reason for this is we believe everybody deserves quality education and entertainment and the fact that some of these children that we find in the orphanages might not have access to this kind of entertainment”
“The educational content available on our DSTV and GOtv decoders will bridge that gap and expose these children to new content and newer ways of doing things and aspire,” he noted.
The donation by Multichoice forms part of the company’s Ghana month celebration where 20 institutions across the country including SOS Children’s Village in Tema were selected to have a GOtv decoder installed.
The installation which comes with a yearly free subscription is expected to add to sources of learning and entertainment for the children as well as the teachers.
For Nii Amarh Dagadu, there is no way to teach a student how a volcano erupts than to watch it, citing National Geographic channel takes people into the fields and gives them firsthand experience.
Being in a space of competition, Multichoice Ghana is drawing on its three decades of experience to satisfy existing customers and potential ones.
“We know what the Ghanaian customer wants. So for example, this year we’ve exclusive right to the World Cup meaning people will be able to watch the competition in November and December. We’re also showing the Ghana vs Nigeria qualifier,” Mr. Dagadu added.
Meanwhile, Alternative Care Coordinator for SOS Children’s Villages in Tema, Eric Duodu was grateful for the gesture.
To share the spirit of independence, Multichoice said its GOtv decoder is going for GH¢69.00 as part of a special package this month and the anniversary of one of its biggest channels; Akwaaba Magic.
