The Multimedia Group has received nine nominations at the Ghana Journalists Association’s 28th GJA Media Awards.
The Awards will be held on Saturday, September 28, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Nominated for awards are Messrs Erastus Asare Donkor, reigning GJA Journalist of the Year; Photo Journalist David Andoh; Emmanuel Kwasi Debrah; Dr Neta Kris Abiana Parsram; Muftawu Nabila Abdulai; Clinton Yeboah and Solomon Jojo Cobbinah. Two of the Group’s brands programmes - Joy FM and Joy News (Radio and TV respectively) have also been nominated for honours.
The nominations were announced on Wednesday at a press conference held at the International Press Centre, Ridge, Accra, at which GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, praised the Awards Committee chaired by George-Ramsey Benamba of the Ghana News Agency, for doing an excellent job by evaluating entries and selecting the most deserving.
The Graphic Communications Group followed with six nominations, followed by the duo of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and Media General with four each. The Fourth Estate received three nominations and the Ghanaian Times, EIB Network, two.

Albert Dwumfour emphasised the critical role of the media in shaping public opinion and holding leaders accountable, especially as Ghana prepares for the 2024 general elections.
The theme for the 28th GJA Media Awards is "75 Years of Excellence in Journalism: The Role of the Media in Democratic Governance and Elections."
He noted that this year’s awards ceremony will climax the GJA’s year-long 75th-anniversary celebration.
