Election 2024 Presidential aspirant, George Twum-Barimah-Adu, has slammed successive governments for designing the country’s agricultural policies to benefit only a few who sit in their offices at the expense of the many Ghanaian farmers who toil to produce and feed the country.
In an engagement with a cross-section of farmers in Navrongo in the Upper East region during the inaugural celebration of the Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana, Twum-Barimah-Adu, who he is a farmer, said governments, particularly under Ghana’s 4th republic, have failed farmers with policies that mostly benefit the architects of the policy to the detriment of farmers.

He said, his ‘Agric for Wealth’ policy would rather focus on making Ghanaian farmers prosperous and wealthy to be able to take care of themselves and their families and offer their children quality education with a sustainable livelihood, just like what his grandfather who was a cocoa farmer was able to do by giving his children the best of education.
He said the ‘Agric for Wealth’ policy holds immense promise as the ultimate game-changer for Ghanaian farmers.
“By harnessing the forces of innovation, investment, and empowerment, we can unleash the full potential of Ghana's agricultural sector, driving sustainable economic growth, reducing poverty, and building resilient communities”, he added.
According to him, “The time is ripe to seize this opportunity and embark on a transformative journey towards a future where agriculture truly serves as the cornerstone of prosperity for all. Together, let us cultivate a brighter tomorrow, rooted in the fertile soils of Ghana's agricultural heritage.”
