As part of its unwavering commitment to advancing local governance and sustainable development, the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), led by its President, Hon. Alfred Asiedu Adjei, embarked on a significant strategic engagement with Kingdom Exim Group.
Accompanied by Mr Jeremiah Quayson, Chief Lobbyist, Hon. Adjei paid a courtesy call to the esteemed organization on 15th January 2025. The delegation was warmly received by the Chief Executive Officer, Dr James Rajamani, and the Managing Director, Dr Immanuel Rajamani.
This landmark meeting marked a pivotal step in strengthening institutional collaboration, fostering grassroots economic empowerment, and positioning Ghana’s Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) on the global stage.
Key discussions centered on aligning NALAG’s development objectives with Kingdom Exim Group’s expertise in trade facilitation, industrial development, and financial solutions.
Advancing NALAG’s Mission through Strategic Partnerships
As the umbrella body representing all local authorities in Ghana, NALAG is tasked with enhancing governance at the grassroots level by equipping MMDAs to fulfil their mandates effectively. The discussions underscored three core pillars of collaboration:
• Enhancing Local Economic Development: NALAG seeks to harness Kingdom Exim Group’s resources to strengthen local industries, particularly in export-driven sectors such as agro-processing, textiles, and handicrafts. These initiatives aim to create sustainable jobs, empower local entrepreneurs, and enhance economic self-reliance at the community level.
• Building Institutional Capacity: A key focus of the partnership is to provide MMDAs with technical expertise, knowledge sharing, and innovative solutions to identify, implement, and manage impactful development projects in line with Ghana’s national agenda.
• Facilitating Access to Funding: Discussions explored mechanisms to connect MMDAs with Kingdom Exim Group’s financial products and services to support critical infrastructure projects, including renewable energy, waste management, rural industrialization, and urban development.
Promoting Global Alliances Through Sister-City Relationships
A highlight of the meeting was NALAG’s proposal to establish sister-city relationships between MMDAs in Ghana and their counterparts in India.
This initiative reflects a forward-thinking approach to international cooperation and knowledge sharing. India, with its globally recognized advancements in local governance, technology, and sustainable development, presents an ideal partner for Ghana’s local authorities. Through this partnership, NALAG envisions:
• Exchanging Best Practices: Facilitating cross-border learning in innovative governance, urban planning, and local government administration.
• Technology Transfer: Adopting cutting-edge technologies in agriculture, waste management, and infrastructure development to accelerate local development.
• Strengthening Cultural and Economic Ties: Deepening socio-economic relations between Ghana and India, creating opportunities for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
Kingdom Exim Group’s Commitment to Local Government Development
The Chief Executive Officer of Kingdom Exim Group, Dr James Rajamani, expressed the institution’s full commitment to supporting NALAG’s vision.
He emphasized that Kingdom Exim Group is ready to serve as a strategic partner in helping MMDAs access resources and opportunities to transform their communities.
Dr Rajamani further pledged to bring other key stakeholders into the fold, ensuring a collaborative and inclusive approach to sustainable development.

Echoing this sentiment, the Managing Director, Dr. Immanuel Rajamani, reaffirmed Kingdom Exim Group’s role as a catalyst for economic transformation, aligning perfectly with NALAG’s ambition of building resilient and self-reliant local governments.
A New Era of Local and International Collaboration
This partnership with Kingdom Exim Group represents a bold step forward in NALAG’s efforts to drive transformational change in local governance. It signals the importance of aligning local initiatives with global opportunities to ensure that Ghana’s MMDAs are not only empowered to meet the needs of their constituents but also capable of thriving in an interconnected world.
A Vision of Shared Prosperity
Speaking after the meeting, Hon. Alfred Asiedu Adjei expressed profound gratitude to the leadership of Kingdom Exim Group for their warm reception and visionary commitment. He stated, “This partnership is a testament to the power of collaboration.
Together, we are building a future where local governments can serve as the bedrock of national development. Kingdom Exim Group’s support will undoubtedly help us deliver impactful results for the people of Ghana.”
The meeting concluded with a shared determination to develop a comprehensive framework for implementing the discussed initiatives.
With this partnership, NALAG reaffirms its dedication to empowering MMDAs, driving local economic development, and fostering global alliances that position Ghana as a leader in innovative and sustainable local governance.
