The Government of Ghana has officially invited media houses and their representatives to cover the upcoming State Funeral of the eight distinguished individuals who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty in the recent helicopter crash at Adansi Brofoyedru near Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region on August 6.

The ceremony, described as a solemn national event, will honour the professionalism, bravery, and ultimate sacrifice of the Air Force personnel.

In a press release issued on Monday, August 11, the government outlined key arrangements to ensure a well-coordinated and respectful event. Journalists and media organisations intending to cover the funeral are advised to adhere to the following essential guidelines:

Accreditation

• Limited access will be granted to photographers and camera operators within a designated media zone located in the inner perimeter of the ceremony grounds.
• This measure is intended to preserve optimal space and maintain decorum during the event.
• Reporters and correspondents who do not require access to the inner perimeter are welcome to join the general mourners or utilise the media stands, which do not require accreditation.

Deadline for Accreditation Applications

• Media houses must submit accreditation requests for photographers and camera operators only by midday (12:00 GMT) on Wednesday, 13th August, 2025.
• Applications should be sent via email to accreditation@isd.gov.gh.

Clean Feed for Broadcasters

To ensure seamless and uniform live coverage:

• Presidency Communications will provide a clean feed for all local and international television stations and media outlets wishing to air the event live.
• The feed will be available both on-site and via the dedicated Outdoor Broadcast (OB) channel on the national DTH decoder platform.
• Media are encouraged to use this clean feed as the primary source for live broadcasting.

Studio Discussions and Live Remote Broadcasts

• Media outlets planning studio-based discussions or live remote coverage will be allocated a designated broadcast area.
• This area will provide connection points for clean video and audio feeds.
• No accreditation is required for access to this broadcast zone.

The Government has expressed its gratitude for the media’s cooperation and urged all outlets to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and respect throughout the coverage.

“We appreciate the media’s understanding and cooperation in ensuring a dignified and respectful State Funeral for our departed compatriots,” the release stated.
