The executive committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has annulled the parliamentary primary held on May 13, 2023, and has ordered a rerun on September 8, 2024, in the Amenfi Central constituency.
In a press release issued by General Secretary Fiifi Kwetey, the party announced that a meeting on September 3 resulted in the decision to nullify the election and schedule a new one.
According to the release, the election has been the subject of litigation at the High Court in Sekondi.
“In the reliefs (c), (d) and (e) of the plaintiff's action, they seek from the court, the annulment of the parliamentary primary election result and an order for rerun of the election.
The NDC has thus opened nominations for the Amenfi Central primary.
According to the new schedule, nominations will be accepted starting September 6.
“The filing of nominations will occur on September 7 from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM, followed by vetting and appeals from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, respectively. The rerun of the primary is set for Sunday, September 8, 2024.”
Nomination forms are available at the office of the Deputy General Secretary in charge of Administration and Finance.
