The Eastern Regional branch of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sternly condemned an attack on its agent in the Abetifi constituency in the region.
The agent, John Teh, who is also the party's Youth Organiser sustained several injuries after some 'macho men' attacked him while he was observing the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise.
In an interview with Joy News' Joseph Opoku Gakpo, he said “I was just there when one pick-up came and a certain woman just pointed at me and seven macho men came out of the car and started beating me," Teh narrated.
“They used a cutlass, wood and other things. They used the cutlass to cut my head and my back,” he narrated.
John Teh said but for the quick response of the police, the perpetrators would have gotten away.
The Eastern Regional Communication Officer of the party, Jamal Konneh in a statement called the police to act swiftly and apprehend the perpetrators.
"We want the police and the national security to stop all unregistered vehicles in the region during this period since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is using such vehicles for their illegal activities," the statement added.
It further urged all polling agents to "continue challenging every minor the NPP tries to register in the region as the law demands. We wish to assure them of the needed protection they need moving forward."
