Mr Attah Twum, National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for tomorrow's by-election in the Atiwa constituency, has said he is hopeful of capturing the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking at a rally at Tumfa, Mr Twum, the current District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa, said judging from his excellent performance as DCE, the people believed he should De elevated to be a parliamentarian.
The Atiwa seat became vacant following the death in London ofMr Kwasi Annor Ankamah, the Member of Parliment (MP) for the area.
The three other candidates in the race are; Mr Kwasi Amoako Attah of the NPP, Mr George Padmore Apraku, of the New Vision Party and Mr Kasum Abdul Kalim of the People's National Convention (PNC).
Mr Twum lost to Mr Ankamah in the 2008 parliamentary election but indicated that within a short time he had worked as DCE, he had provided a number of projects for the education and health sectors as well as engaged in job creation that had endeared him to the electorate.
Mr Tawiah Boateng, Eastern regional organiser of the NDC, appealed to the electorate to vote overwhelmingly for Mr Twum if they wanted to see real development at Atiwa.
He said Mr Twum was a ministerial material who could be appointed a cabinet minister if he got to parliament, explaining that Eastern Region had no cabinet minister in the current administration.
Mr Boateng called on party supporters voting on Tuesday to avoid any election malpractices since the party would not come to the aid of anyone who would break the law.
Hajia Ntene Adam, Deputy BrongAhafo women's organiser of the party, said the youth stood, to gain if they actively supported the NDC since there were lots of interventions to improve their lot.
She said President John Evans Atta Mills had not forgotten the promises he made to Ghanaians and was working hard to live up to expectation in fulfilment of his Better Ghana agenda.
