Scotland-based midfielder Laryea Kingston would no longer play on the offensive as far as the Black Stars is concerned.
This follows a decision by the Stars coach Milovan Rajevac to shift the offensive minded player to the defence.
Milovan told GNA Sports that he will play Kingston in the defensive midfield after a critical assessment of the player’s abilities.
“I have reviewed his performance and his style fits the defensive midfield. He is versatile and I am highly convinced he will perfectly fit in.”
The Serbian explained that Kingston, who has played on the offensive throughout his career, will have a first taste of his new role during the February 11 clash with the Pharaohs of Egypt.
Milovan said the decision to swap the role of the Hearts of Midlothian midfield ace is to try out Auxerre-based Moussa Narry, who has been handed his first call-up in three months.
The Stars coach had earlier told GNA Sports that he was scouting for a right winger, and the decision to drop the traditional occupant of that role confirms that.
The 28-year old has been playing at the right side of the Stars midfield since making his debut in 2005.
Kingston gained prominence after being left out of Ghana’s Black Stars squad for the FIFA World Cup in Germany in 2006 due to a three-match ban.
