Ena Charity Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has donated items worth 50 million cedis to the people of Agajajeter in the Asesewa District.
The presentation, which formed part of a Christmas party, saw the distribution of clothing, cooked food, other fresh food items, toys, confectioneries and drinks to children, parents and teachers who have dedicated themselves to the upbringing of children in the community.
Mrs Emma Moisan, President of the Foundation, told the GNA that it had been working in the community for the past one and half years with support from individuals and companies including Nestle, Dannex, Rabina and Imexico Ghana.
Mrs Moisan said the community of about 1,000 people lacked access to potable drinking water, school, clinic and other social amenities.
"Though we have been able to raise 8,000 dollars from the wife of the coach of the Ghana Black Star, Mrs Eva Le Roy, for the construction of boreholes the contractors could not enter the community due to the poor road".
She said the foundation had written numerous petitions to the assembly about the nature of the road but nothing had been done and pleaded for assistance from all sources to meet the needs of the community.
Mrs Moisan said the people were taken through a health guide with support from Dannex Pharmaceuticals each quarter and that the foundation was providing vocational training for women to enable them to earn income.
The party was organised with support from Shoprite, Metro TV and Marcel Desaily, the former captain of the French national Football team.
Mr Desaily, Patron of the Foundation, donated football jerseys to the Agajajeter Local Authority School and promised to help raise funds in support of development in the area.
He said he would help build the sporting talents as well as instilling discipline into the children.
