The Media Relations Manager for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA)has been sacked.
According to Asempa News’ sources, Mr. Akwasi Acquah was dismissed for “vacating his post”.
Officials at the NHIA have been mute over the development and events leading to Mr. Acquah’s dismissal.
Akwasi Acquah was engaged by the erstwhile government in 2007 as Media Relations Manager at the NHIA Head Office but was transferred to the Accra office of the Scheme soon after Mr. Sylvester Mensah took over as the Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Acquah has however confirmed to Asempa News that he has been hinted of a letter to that effect but he was yet to see it.
He however denies he vacated his post, saying until the third week of June he was reporting to work but had to stop temporary due to circumstances beyond his control.
According to him, since he was transferred to the Accra office, he has written twice to his bosses notifying them of the lack of basic office infrastructure like desk to enable him work effectively but nothing was done about it.
