The National Skate Soccer team, Rolling Rockets, lost 8-1 to Kano pillars of Nigeria in the return leg of the Afriglobal unity skate Soccer fiesta in Agege Lagos.
The Ghanaians who were playing before a charged Nigerian Crowd drew first blood with a good goal that seems to have unsettled the Nigerian team briefly.
But the Nigerians hit back in style with two quick goals from skipper Alhassan and playmaker Yusif Ortega. Many had looked forward to a strong comeback from the Ghanaians but things went from bad to worse for the Rockets.
Nigerians scored three more goals to close the first half of 30 minutes with a 5-1 lead. The second half resumed with Ghana Coach Daniel Kotey making a number of substitutions which included goalkeeper but to no avail.
Ghana's lively captain Gariba was off colour, and less inspirational as the Nigerians continued to dominate possession and make it difficult for the Ghanaians to have the ball. The dominance resulted in more chaos in the Ghanaian defence.
The Nigerians who were sensing their Ghanaian Counterparts were simply out of breath completely put the game to bed with three more goals from Ortega to leave the score at 8-1.
The voices of the jubilant crowd were louder at the sound of referee George Darko's whistle to close the game.
The Nigerians swooped four of the five trophies available and were awarded a cash prize of $2,300.
Rolling Rockets, however, managed to keep the best defender of the Trophy which went to Bilal Adamu.
Speaking after the game, IFSS President, Sunil Lalvani said he was satisfied with the quality displayed by both teams.
He insisted that the federation would use the Nigerian event as the yardstick for the African tournament to be hosted by Ghana next March.
''It was a very competitive game between Nigeria and Ghana. It was a very fantastic game. When Nigeria lost 3-2 to Ghana in the first game I expected Nigeria to fight back and they did just that. Nigeria played with confidence and dominated the encounter,'' Lalvani noted.
The game sponsored by AfriGlobal forms part of the Rolling Rockets Preparation towards the Maiden Africa Cup of Nations in March next year.
The team is expected to continue Camping for the next assignment in January which is a four-nation tournament to be held in Accra.
