Opinions are divided among Nigerian youth in Ghana over the election victory chalked by opposition leader, General Muhammadu Buhari.
While some hope the former military leader would deliver and make Nigeria a ‘better place’ with upon assumption of office, others argue that he is “too old” to deliver.
Another school of thought claims Buahari and Goodluck were never the best choice for Nigeria as they can’t deliver to the satisfaction of the youth in the country.
The former army general was declared winner of last weekend’s polls. His victory led to a spontaneous jubilation in the West African country last night amid tight security.
A Nigerian trader at Tiptoe Lane in Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra who only identified himself as Chinedu told Adomonline.com in an interview that the President elect lacks what it takes to unite Nigerians.
He argued that Buhari is too old a person to ‘bring any meaningful’ development into Nigeria.
To him, majority of Nigerian voters made a mistake by voting the leader he sees as one who has the strength to rule for ‘only two years’ and then resign on health grounds.
He continues that, he has failed to see the reason for the abject poverty in Nigeria since it has the best economy in Africa.
Chinedu attributed the country’s woes to bad leadership and called on ‘old Nigerian politicians to give way to much youthful ones’.
But his view was not shared by another group led by one Apostle Zion who claimed Buhari was a leader that God had chosen to lead Nigeria.
According to him, he saw in a dream former President Goodluck Jonathan walking alone before the polls.
“And when I asked God about that, God told me it was a sign he was exiting office because a President must not walk alone….” A Nigerian laptop dealer who identified himself as Blessing called on the Nigerian ‘old politicians’ to give way for the youth to take over.
