The New Patriotic Party (NPP) conceded defeat in the 2008 general elections in the supreme interest of Ghana, Nana Abu Bonsrah, the party’s Member of Parliament (MP) for Fomena in the Adansi North District on Monday said.
“The leadership of the party realised the strong need to exchange their victory for the peace of Ghana. By this gesture, Ghana has ultimately become the winner and not any party,” he said.
The MP, who toured all the communities in the Fomena constituency to express his appreciation to electorate for his election, gave the assurance that with commitment and steadfastness of the supporters, the party would come back to power in 2012.
“Such massive support from supporters and sympathisers of the party will be the driving force that will propel Members of Parliament and other leaders to keep on fighting till victory is won in 2012,” he stressed.
Nana Bonsrah, who said the party’s MPs were encouraged by the open demonstration of the electorate’s unflinching support, asked them to remain committed and steadfast always.
He said he would continue to team up with the constituents and work together for their common good.
The MP, who outlined an elaborate programme to maintain a constant touch with the constituents, appealed to supporters of other parties, especially the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to embrace peace all the time.
