Some big wigs in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have strongly condemned the arrest of former deputy Sports Minister and Member of Parliament for Aburi constituency, Hon. O. B Amoah.According to the NPP, the 'rambo style' arrest of the deputy Minister is unconstitutional and a travesty of justice hence their call for his immediate release from Police cells where he has been kept since Sunday evening.Hon. Amoah, was on Sunday arrested and charged with corruption and willfully causing financial loss to the state, in connection with the controversial GhC51 million judgment debt payment to embattled businessman Alfred Woyome. He was picked up at his Parakou Estates residence, near Dome, and was whisked away to the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters.Speaking to Citi News reporter Richard Sky at the Police CID headquarters on Monday, Frances Essiam, NPP parliamentary candidate for the Adenta constituency said Mr. Amoah must be released for human right to thrive.Madam Essiam who has spent over 12 hours at the Police headquarters to sympathize with Hon. Amoah told Citi News that the Police have no reason to arrest the Aburi MP and charge him with corruption and willfully causing financial loss to the state. The NPP firebrand described the arrest as "baloney" alleging that Hon. Amoah was arrested without a warrant which she says is highly illegal. She called for the arrest of former Education Minister, Betty Mould-Iddrisu and Financial Minister, Kwabena Duffuor since they played a more direct role in the payment of the controversial GhC51 million judgment debt to Alfred Woyome.
