A total of 192 youth have been employed in the health, teaching, sanitation and community protection sectors under the National Youth and Employment Programme (NYEP) in the Kwahu West District.
Farmers group are also being organised in the communities for assistance to enhance agricultural production under the programme introduced last year.
Kingsley Boahene, District Co-ordinating Director, made these known at the opening of a six-week workshop for 60 health extension workers at the Holy Family Nursing School at Nkawkaw.
The trainees would be posted to health facilities to assist nurses and other staff to enhance health delivery in the district.
Mr Boahene advised them to be disciplined and to take their lessons seriously to enable them to cope with their duties after the course.
The District Director of Health Services, Mrs Julia Nimo, said the trainees would be taken through topics like patients right and responsibilities, community relations, environmental health, diseases surveillance, child survival and safe motherhood.
She urged the trainees to take their lessons seriously since they would be tested weekly before their final examination at the end of the course.
Mrs Nimo advised them to strive to improve their Senior Secondary School to enable them to further their education to become professionals.
The District Youth Employment Co-ordinator, Ernest Appiah-Ansong, asked the trainees to be punctual, disciplined, hard working and respectful to improve their human relations.
