Black Stars defensive midfielder Afriyie Acquah has signed for Italian Serie A club Torino on a four-year deal.
The announcement was made on the club website.
“Torino Football Club are pleased to communicate the definitive acquisition from Hoffenheim FC of the right to the sporting performances of the player Afriyie Acquah,” reads the statement.
“For the Ghanaian midfielder there is a contract until 2019.”
This week, there had been strong media links with AC Milan, especially after the giants new coach Sinisa Mihajlovic was signed.
The 23-year-old was owned by the Hoffenheim but has been playing in Serie A since 2013 with Parma and Sampdoria, where he was loaned.
Acquah joined Sampdoria in January while he was away on international duty with the Black Stars at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. Upon his return, he was key in their run to seventh and has been given some good reviews this season.
Mihajlovic, who liked the youngster so much that he chucked Acquah into the Sampdoria lineup Acquah just two days after the Afcon, said: "I am convinced that Acquah will give us a big hand. He has great physicality, great strength and I decided to play him from the start to give us speed in midfield."
Acquah is widely known to be a discipline of the Michael Essien school of football, and the former Chelsea ace has, many times, applauded the youngster's style.
