Accra Great Olympics on Saturday put up a splendid performance to beat Kumasi based King Faisal two goals to nil in their OneTouch Premier League clash at the Ho Sports Stadium.
Olympics who lost their previous three matches in succession put everything into the match right from the blast of the whistle and won a penalty in the 35th minute, which Edward Sosu converted for the opener.
Cheered on by a vociferous group of supporters, Olympics held on to the 1-0 and determined the pace of the game for the rest of the first half.
King Faisal warmed up into the game after recess winning all 50-50 balls, but failed to equalize two minutes into the second half in a counter attack that found Faisal attackers in very clear scoring positions.
A minute later Olympics' Mohammed Tanko nearly increased the tally to two but missed the post narrowly after dribbling through Faisal's defence and had only goalkeeper Osei Boateng to beat.
In the 65th minute as tension increased with officials of the two teams arguing about some of the referees' decisions, Olympic's Emmanuel Clottey capitalized on a lapse in concentration in Faisal's defence and fired a swift one past Osei Boateng making it two for his team.
Michael Quaye of Olympics was adjudged the man of the match.
