The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has, with immediate effect, re-declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a wanted person, following his failure to report to the OSP’s headquarters as required.
This latest move comes after Mr Ofori-Atta was temporarily removed from the wanted list under the condition that he would honour a scheduled appearance — a condition he has now breached, prompting a reinstatement of his wanted status.
The announcement was made alongside several significant developments within the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
Notably, the OSP has uncovered a far-reaching GH₵280 million corruption scandal at the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), implicating numerous top officials.
Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng disclosed that investigations, initiated in November 2024, have exposed systemic abuse of office and financial misconduct at the Authority between 2022 and 2024.
The OSP has also reopened the investigation into former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah. The decision follows a formal request from new leadership within the investigative body.
The OSP confirmed that it has since forwarded a duplicate of the case docket to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for further review and possible renewed investigation.
In a separate case, the OSP announced that it has accepted a plea bargain proposal from Andy Thomas Owusu, the second accused in the corruption-related trial involving Charles Bissue, former Secretary of the now-defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM).
Below is the full statement from the OSP:
