The Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has unveiled the newly launched Performance Tracker, aimed at fostering transparency and accountability in infrastructure projects nationwide.

In his remarks, Mr. Nkrumah emphasised the tracker's role in addressing concerns regarding project accuracy and reliability, particularly in the depiction of project outcomes through artist's impressions.

At the official launch held at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on Wednesday, April 10, Mr Nkrumah highlighted that the tracker currently hosts data on over 13,000 projects across the country.

He noted that the tracker builds upon the foundation laid by the Delivery Tracker introduced by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in 2020.

Mr. Nkrumah elaborated that the Performance Tracker covers a wide spectrum of projects, including infrastructure and service delivery initiatives, validated across all sixteen regions of Ghana.

He specified that the latest available data on the platform dates back to June 2023.

The Minister underscored ongoing efforts to ensure the continuous updating of the Performance Tracker, with various ministries and agencies contributing data beyond the June 2023 timeframe.

Describing the Performance Tracker as user-friendly, Mr. Nkrumah highlighted its accessibility through both a website and a mobile application, catering to diverse user preferences.

He emphasized the meticulous validation process undergone by the platform, incorporating geo-tagging and photographic documentation of projects to enhance transparency.

The Minister also stressed on the significance of the Performance Tracker as a comprehensive database showcasing the government's projects and initiatives nationwide.

He emphasized its coverage of over 13,000 projects across 261 districts, 16 regions, and 28 ministries, serving as a testament to the government's commitment to transparency and accountability in project execution.

"The performance tracker is a database that showcases the performances of the government of Ghana and it is going to show you the various projects that have been executed across the country.

"This database has two interfaces; a website and an application. Today the mobile phone is very powerful too and sometimes even beyond what your desktop can do," Mr. Nkrumah stated.
