The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Ocquaye has revealed the Minority in Parliament will be compelled to summon the Inspector General of Police, Paul Tawiah Quaye before the House if the violence in the Odododiodio constituency is not curtailed.
The Second Deputy Speaker’s remarks were in response to a wave of violence that has characterized the ongoing biometric voters’ registration exercise especially in the Odododiodio constituency.
The latest act of the violence saw the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma South, Ursula Owusu being assaulted by thugs alleged to have come from the camp of the National Democratic Congress’ Odododiodio constituency parliamentary candidate and Presidential Aide, Nii Lante Vanderpuye.
Joy FM’s Evans Mensah who visited the scene after the alleged assault on Ursula Owusu reported of uneasy calm at the Odododiodio constituency when a team of NPP executive led by Prof Mike Ocquaye paid a visit to the area.
According to Prof Mike Ocquaye, Parliament which is on recess will be compelled to summon the IGP, Paul Tawiah Quaye, if he fails to investigate the violence being perpetuated against the NPP in the ongoing biometric voters’ registration exercise.
He further called on Civil Society Organizations to also intervene in the ongoing violence which has marred the registration exercise.
Returning to the area, where she was assaulted, Ursula Owusu urged supporters of the NPP to withstand their ground and take part in the registration exercise and vote massively to bring the NPP back to power.
