The Member of Parliament for Bimbilla Constituency has described the continuous curfew in the area as unacceptable.
Dominic Nitiwul said the curfew has brought major economic setbacks to the people of the Bimbilla Constituency.
The government imposed a 6:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. curfew on the Bimbilla Township following a renewed conflict in the area.
This was, however, reviewed from 8:00p.m to 6:p.m effective March 22 in a statement signed by the Interior Minister, Prosper Bani.
Reacting to the issue on Joy News, Mr. Nitiwul said it is needless for the curfew to persist after calm has been restored in the area.
“We have serious challenges. I have interacted with everybody in the Constituency [and] nobody seems happy,” he said.
Mr. Nitiwul believes “If the curfew is reviewed for example to any time after 10p.m. then you can say that it will lessen the suffering of the people.”
According to him, it is important for the curfew to be reconsidered looking at the fact that “the Muslim fasting is coming close.”
“We are entering into the farming season in the North,” he said adding the people should not be made to suffer anymore.
He expressed confidence in the security agencies adding they are doing their best to protect the people of the area.
