The Central East Regional Police Command has apprehended one suspect linked to a robbery that took place in the early hours of Sunday, 6th July 2025, near Dabanyin, close to Gomoa Buduatta Junction along the Kasoa-Winneba Road.
Initial investigations reveal that around 12:30 a.m., the arrested suspect, Mohammed Bello, along with four accomplices still at large, robbed drivers and passengers of their belongings. Stolen items included mobile phones and an undisclosed sum of money.
Acting swiftly, police arrested Mohammed Bello as he attempted to flee the scene. A search uncovered GH₵3,740.00 in cash, two Samsung smartphones, a Tecno Spark 20, an Itel keypad phone, an Itel power bank, a lady’s purse, five sticks of cigarettes, a wristwatch, a headset, a mobile phone charger, and a pair of sandals, later identified by one of the victims.
The suspect is currently in custody, aiding investigations, while intelligence operations continue to track down the remaining gang members.
Meanwhile, four robbery victims who sustained gunshot wounds are receiving medical treatment. They expressed gratitude to the Regional Police Command for the arrest and ongoing efforts to apprehend the other suspects.
The Central East Regional Police Command has urged any additional victims to come forward and assist with the investigation. They reassured the public that all involved perpetrators will be arrested and prosecuted.
