Mr Daniel Darko, chairman of Hohoe Branch 2 of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), on Saturday called on the police to intensify its efforts at enforcing road and traffic regulations to stem the rising rate of motor accidents
He pledged the association's support for the police in the enforcement of road and traffic regulations.
Mr Darko was speaking at this year’s West African Security Services Association (WASSA) celebration, organised for personnel of the Hohoe Divisional Police Command, at Hohoe.
Mr Paul K Gyempe, Hohoe Divisional Police Commander, noted that crime in a technologically advanced world has become sophisticated and urged personnel to work harder to ensure peace and stability.
He said the prevalence of economic crimes, drug trafficking, armed robbery, murder, child trafficking, defilement and rape continued to pose a challenge to the police.
Mr Gyempe, however, expressed optimism that crime fighting could become easier if the Police Service was provided with adequate logistics.
He called on the general public to volunteer information about criminals and gave the assurance that the identity of informants would be keep confidential.
Mr Kwami Avega-Kamabla, Presiding Member of the Hohoe District Assembly, praised the police for working hard despite limited resources.
