The anti-robbery task force of the Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested one suspected armed robber with three others shot dead in an intelligence-led operation in Buokrom Estate.
In a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Kwesi Ofori, the police said it received intelligence about an attack on one businessman in Buokrom Estate upon which the anti-robbery task force unit mounted an operation.
"Following the intelligence received that an attack was being planned on a businessman at Buokrom Estate, the Regional Police anti-Robbery Taskforce personnel mounted a search screening operation of all vehicles entering the estate.
"During the search, the four suspects who were in a car attempted to fire at the personnel who were undertaking the operation," the statement said.
According to the statement, upon reaching the checkpoint of the police, the four suspects attempted to open fire at the police; the police fired back, injuring three of the suspects who later died from the sustained gunshot wounds at Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital.

However, the police managed to arrest one of the robbers, an official statement said.
A pump-action gun, one revolver pistol, one locally manufactured gun, one dagger, two black hoods, two pairs of scissors and a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis were retrieved from the suspect's vehicles.
