The chief fisherman of Elmina in the Central Region and Chairman of the local pre-mix fuel committee, Nana Jojo, has been suspended for alleged impropriety involving ¢250 million belonging to the committee.Nana Jojo is alleged to have deposited the money in his personal bank account, according to the Central Regional Coordinating Council (RCC).A committee has been set up to investigate the case, while a seven-member Interim Management Committee (IMC) has been appointed by the RCC to handle the distribution of pre-mix fuel in the area until the investigation is concluded. The nomination of the IMC, has however, met with a stiff opposition from the Edina Traditional Council who said they were not consulted. The council asked for the exclusion of two names from the list and the nomination of an additional two names from the traditional council, all of which were accepted by the RCC after the Omanhen Nana Kodwo Conduah VI had stated the council’s position at a meeting between the RCC and the Elmina community yesterday. The meeting was to discuss ways of improving the distribution of pre-mix fuel in the area. The Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur, said Nana Jojo will be reinstated if he is absolved from blame. He explained that the IMC was only acting for a short period pending the re-composition of the entire committee after the investigations.Source: The Ghanaian Times
