Customers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) affected by the recent prepaid crisis are demanding compensation from the power distributor.
They say their businesses have been negatively affected the last few days when the challenges began.
“I have been up and down since last Friday, I was writing exams and we all know that firms are set up to solve problems [but] if you breach your agreement, you need to pay compensation,” a customer told Joy News Tuesday.

Hundreds of ECG customers at Dansoman, Korle Bu, Kaneshie and Achimota have had issues purchasing prepaid credit for the past weeks.
ECG officials say the problem was caused by some technical challenges their system is facing.
Long queues have been forming at ECG offices since last Monday with reported cases of customers collapsing after spending hours in the sweltering heat trying to purchase power.

Although the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) had given the ECG a 24-hour ultimatum to fix the challenges, Joy News has learnt customers are still queuing at most offices.
Some business owners who spoke to Joy News have asked ECG to compensate them for the toll the crisis has had on them.
But ECG Managing Director, Samuel Boakye-Appiah has assured customers of an immediate resolution of the matter.
He said the Company is doing all it can to regain the confidence of the public.
