Spokesperson of the Ghana Football Association, Randy Abbey, has dismissed rumours of poor remuneration for the Black Stars.An uninspiring Black Stars beat the Squirrels of Benin by a solitary goal in the opening 2010 World Cup qualifier sparking rumours of low wages.But Mr. Abbey told Joy Sports, rumours of low wages and winning bonuses were untrue.He asserted, the winning bonuses for the Stars have not changed but failed to disclose the exact amount paid them.Asked whether all the 22 invited players were entitled to the bonuses, Mr. Abbey said only the 18 players who were finally selected for the game would benefit.He insisted that has been the norm, except for the Stars preliminary World Cup qualifiers against Libya, Lesotho and DR Congo where all the 22 players were part of the campaign.The inclusion of all the players in the four week enthralling campaign was to keep a buck-up in the likely event of injuries.The spokesperson also dismissed alleged threats by Sulley Ali Muntari to quit playing for the National Team if a police man who was said to have assaulted his (Sulley) girl friend on the match-day failed to apologise.Mr. Abbey confirmed the incident but added the mercurial left-footed player asked for an apology but did not threaten to quit playing for the Stars.He implored journalists to cross-check their facts before putting them out in the public domain.On the preparations towards the impending crucial qualifier against Mali and Sudan in June, Mr. Abbey noted the Stars coach together with the FA will map a good strategy towards the matches.Story by Nathan Gadugah
