A two-day capacity-building conference to sensitize Regional Ministers on their roles and responsibilities for the attainment of the "Better Ghana Agenda" opened in Kumasi on Saturday.
The programme, being organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD), aims at sharing knowledge, deepening relationship and finding effective ways to implement government policies.
It is being held on the theme "Re-energizing Regional Level Governance for the Attainment of the Better Ghana Agenda".
Mr Paul Victor Obeng, Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), called for regular meetings amongst the Ministers.
This, he said, was necessary to sharpen their skills to enable them keep on track in respect of meeting the development needs of the people as pertained to regional level governance.
It would also help them to review their performance and chart the path towards achieving priority development programmes of the central government.
Mr Obeng said the Ministers were agents of change and, therefore, they should be committed to serving the people to alleviate their plight.
He urged the participants to place premium on the topics to be discussed at the conference to engender national development.
Mr. Kwasi Oppong-Fosu, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, entreated the Ministers to liaise with stakeholders in the implementation of their programmes saying they should take into consideration the views and peculiar needs of all interest groups for the benefit of the people.
