Rejoinder: Blows at IMF meeting

We refer to media reports of an altercation between the Hon. Minister of Finance and the CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors..

We do acknowledge the holding of a meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) ,Ministry of Finance (MoF), Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (MoEP) and other Governmental Petroleum Agencies at the invitation of the Ministry of Finance, to discuss fiscal challenges facing the petroleum downstream sector.

Discussions held at the meeting were privileged and its details must remain as such.

Any discourse with the Minister and other officials present at the meeting were a matter of healthy discussions intended to find lasting solutions to problems bedevilling our industry and the economy as a whole.

Wedo not consider any part of the discourse as an attack on us.

The CBOD per the nature of its operations has a goodworking relationship with the Ministry of Finance. The CEO of the Chamber personally has a professional and cordial relationship with the Hon. Minister and his officials. This relationship remains same before, during and after the meeting.

We therefore wish that anysuggestions that seek to pitch the CBOD against the Minister, while executing our legitimate mandate on behalf of our respective organisations be disregarded by all.

Thank you and God Bless our homeland Ghana.

Senyo K. Hosi

(CEO, CBOD)
