Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has singled out religious tolerance as the pivot around which Ghana’s enduring peace revolves.
According to him, peace is fundamental to human existence; without it, life would lack meaning, leading to perpetual strife.
Dr Bawumia stressed that the universal desire for peace transcends religious differences.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer said this when he spoke as a Special Guest of Honour at the Miracle Arena for All Nations in Canada.
“Ghana is a beautiful country. Even if I say so, and if you haven't visited I ask you to visit, I ask you to visit is very interested in Ghana. We are the most peaceful country in West Africa. The most peaceful of course, one of the most peaceful countries on the whole continent of Africa. And if you look at the foundations of our peace in Ghana, and have looked at it very carefully over the years, at the heart of the peace is religious tolerance, religious tolerance, interfaith coexistence and tolerance.
Dr Bawumia also shared listed some public examples of religious tolerance including his personal involvement as a patron of the Methodist Boys Brigade and Mother Teresa's soup kitchen even though he is a Muslim.
He added that "the sort of society that we are building in Ghana, in terms of interfaith and, and that for me, you know, we have a lot of harmony, and we have a lot of peace."
"And that is really the heart of the matter, we all believing God. We all know that unless the Lord builds the house, we will labour there in vain."
Dr Bawumia urged all to contribute towards fostering global peace.
